The mysterious musician otherwise known as 36663 recently returned with his third epic cut on the darkwave and synthcore scene. Taken from the Scene Killers album, this boundary-breaking and bar-setting body of work from 404 Error takes no short cuts and leaves no questions unanswered. A talented form of experimental electronica merges with a time-tested volley of style choices that launch the gloom into an animated masquerade. I think we’ve all been guilty of not replying to a message when we should have done, but this track looks in the opposite direction. A lot of attractive women who are well within their rights to post pictures of themselves online receive unsolicited flirt-mail from strangers. Sometimes it’s provocative and aggravated too, which makes it even worse. Please reply is the desperate mating call of the fantasy dwelling singleton who wants to think he’s got a chance on the merit of his impoliteness. I wonder what 404 Error has to say about this phenomenon? There’s only one way to find out.  
 
It begins with a catchy motif on the synthesiser. 36663 then begins to sing, telling the narrative of his imaginary loser. We’ve all met this type, wide-eyed and sexualised, he just wants to get your attention and perhaps something more. A desperate plea for gratification with a bipolar mix of disrespect and submissive honey traps, the message is one of distasteful and disturbing content. A surging rhythm punches the storyline in like a typewritten script as the typist offers tainted heartfelt nonsense in the vague and desperate hope of some kind of emotional return. The music sounds good, even if the lyrics make you want to puke.
