Fans of the band and the alt-goth genre have been waiting 20 long years for this. Their first release in two decades, Sunshine Blind offer up Scarred But Fearless. Track one and two are billed as a double-A single release with their own unique titles, Ghost Of You and Unsinkable. We’ve all been scarred before, either of the unknown or the known-too-well. Facing fear and going in to achieve our goals means finding an inner sense of selflessness that makes the cages of emotion disappear. The first number on the record is Ghost Of You, and it’s got that alt-goth heartbeat that female-led groovers do best. The second track, Unsinkable, is written as a motivation song that reminds the listener that there’s more to be done and you’re in the best place to begin. It’s here for you to enjoy.

A blast of snare wraps the intro into a ball and throws it at you. A guitar boils over, spilling its vibe in effervescent layers of chorus, reverb, and cold distortion. Caroline Blind launches in with her fabulous voice. The melody does so much more than your typical goth band, upbeat tunes with drabness mixed in through clever layers provides a rock n roll sense of upbeat drive that carries us onward. The song begins to evolve and, after a chorus or two the bass takes the lead, and a marching pace leans over the bar. Drumming builds and the vocal wails in ghostly poems. A rising energy cusps and the chords begin to bash in with an extra umph as the melody catches the sail and pushes the entire thing forward.
