The college rock inspired four-piece from New Jersey return, and they bring gifts from the other side. An unusual thesis surrounds their forming; The Melancholy Kings are inspired by the profound affliction one attains when dealing with certain white shoe law firms in NYC, where they grew up. The band are all veteran entertainers with members from top-drawer scene acts colliding into this projection of proficiency. They take their orders from the unusually memorable jangle office, likening their sound to Dinosaur Jr. and classic indecipherable R.E.M. This new single comes from the new album, Her Favorite Disguise, out on November 28th. Victoria reveals a party number in classic rock n roll style, all with the colours and glads of post-punk, blues rock, and novel miradors of lyrical thought.     
 
A neat and cosy drum fill breaks open the cymbal. The flowing current of tapping metalwork becomes a platform for the band to gel. A punk rock quality moulds the chords together with a melodious jam through chunky tones. Mixing up the melodies, the guitar and bass revel on novel directions as the verses offer up fun, jumpy, and memorable kicks into nostalgia and youth. Quality comes first, then comes a punk attitude that seems to hang just on the edge of classically nurtured. It gives the sound a rough and ready professionalism that we can all enjoy.
