The third single from the forthcoming new synonymous album, Young and Lonely sees dream-pop and synthesiser elevate the sensations we are all familiar with. An exploration of feeling unwanted, vulnerable, and in need of tenderness in a cruel and cold, impersonal world, singer and songwriter Diana Planche reveals the soul of solitude through dreamy and imaginative bars. Classically trained and a graduate of Queen’s University, the musical skills she’s built get their full space to flourish with a self-guided outreach into the open skies of her imagination. Written while witnessing first-hand the ravages of dementia and memory loss, the music and lyrics explore the feelings of forgetting our lives. The song, Young and Lonely by Set Feux, is accompanied by a delightfully nostalgic and beautiful video.
 
The song begins with vocal and piano tones, a delicate and melodious dive takes a short run before plunging into rhythms and harmony. The ripples of the kinetic vibrancy shimmer as they travel over the surface. In the depths, Set Feux brings a sense of good taste and fantasy dream imagery with a continually drifting and changing flow of notes, motif, and beauty. Like a summery evening with good company, and a story to keep us warm, the music takes us through feelings and sensations that remind us that life is fragile and who we are depends a lot on the present moment.

The Canadian darkwave maestro with millions of streams across his run of synonymous releases has just unleashed another killer record. The new EP showcases the artist’s work of late through his prolific White Bat YouTube music channel. He’s amassed so much attention from his hard work and persistence, a following of batfans keeps him on his toes and at the desk for ever more creepy compositions. A self-similar design for each record and a name to match the spooky and dusty sonics he produces, a sure success is natural when you sound as good as Karl Casey.
 
A chiming arpeggio style motif begins the title track with a surge of amplitude and tonal diffusion. Harmonies streak over the bars in luminescent strides of day-glow light. An 80s theme penetrates the music with swathes of retro-tastic melody and synthesiser that resonates with the memories of the past. New engines of reverberation propel the forward motion into the depths of a sinister and choppy arena where the notes meet to whisper their secrets.  Disparate minor chords revel with major inflections as a synthesis of passion and drive enlivens a layering of melodies that evolve and breathe in their own darkly lit padded cell.
