Sara Lew
Out Of Nowhere Denmark Released on the 12th of May, Out Of Nowhere gives us a taste of Sara Lew’s upcoming album, Loud. The name says it all, with personality and composition together marking the territory and no-doubt being accepted by the indigenous numina. The album is written about life’s challenges and changes, the things we learn and how it makes us feel. A song about feeling powerless and without support, Out Of Nowhere takes us to rock bottom, takes that rock and turns it into something that makes us fly. With the talents of Anders Filipsen on the keyboards and drummer Jeppe Gram, Sara Lew takes her song writing to its full capacity. A smooth build-up carries a guitar into earshot as relaxed chords strum a melodic pattern. Sara Lew puts her voice into action, a soaring vocal builds imagery of mysterious atmospheres with words that drift into introspection. An artistic and communicative style of drumming gives a layer of passive drama over the post-folk storyline that waltzed over contours high and low. Whistly tones hang gently in spacious currents that layer over hillside-like tranquillity. A beautiful and meandering mosey through vibrant emotion and spiralling self-realisation creates a song out of nowhere. Beauty In Chaos
Kiss Me (Goodbye) Feat. Julian Shah-Tayler 33.3 Music Collective Joining forces from across the Atlantic, US artist Beauty In Chaos has collaborated with UK singer Julian Shah-Tayler. Between LA and Wales something desirable and intriguing has manifested from this comparison of composition. Putting it all together and aligning the atmospheres, Pete Parada (The Offspring, Face To Face) added his drums to complete the trinity. The track is accompanied by a glorious video made by Industrialism Films’ Vincente Cordero. A step forward from the recent album, Behind The Veil, production skills from Grammy nominee Michael Rozon add an extra twinkle of goth-gaze and dream-void to the creation. A roar of guitar growls into the music as drums and synth decide on the atmosphere to follow. Haunting harmonies plunge through the rock sensation as the rhythm hits the bass on precise tones. A classic rock style vocal begins to push a feeling of good time parties as the uplifting rhythm kicks in with each inflection of chorus and verse. A hazy blissed out sense of drive hangs poignantly in the motion as powerful guitars enchant the sweeping bars with dashing distortions. A blur of gothic sensibility and power-pop spruce forms a double-helix of reproductive creativity, inspirational and motivational. The tune merges through a semblance of clarity as each chorus hits home and original sounding guitar licks meet vibrant synths as the song out-does itself. Nexus
Shrinking Man Gothic He’s been pushing out quality content for years. Mike Pougounas began working with music professionally in 1998 when he helped form The Flowers Of Romance. Finally finding his wings when the band became Nexus, Pougounas and co released four brilliant albums over the next few years. Things don’t always go smoothly, and in many instances, this is what makes output more interesting. The same can be said for what happened next, when Nexus decided to change one more time. The birth of New Zero God saw the band transform once again with yet another layer of inventiveness, experience, and compositional clarity. Along came the lock-down, and anyone deserving of polite society did what was necessary and remained isolated. It was at this time that Mike decided to renew his vows with Nexus and reinvent the sound on a solo production. So here it is, the new track which has been made in collaboration with friends such as Mark Gemini Thwaite, who’s been involved with the likes of Gary Numan and The Mission, and John Fryer of Nine Inch Nails, This Mortal Coil, and Depeche Mode production credits. Tuneful atmospheric rhythms begin to cast a magical melody. Deep and emotional words then begin to drift over the flowing tones. A gothic edge forms an avant-garde feel as the storyline ensues with descriptions. A cello from Dalai Cellai adds a layer of emotional clarity as the drumming pushes into second gear. The pressure of the song rises gracefully as the powerful tones strike ascending keys in movements of mindful motion. Rhythm builds as the music continues, a progressive and hypnotic energy fluctuates between open ended statements of character. Tom Zeta
The Click You Plus One Returning to the venue in the wake of Personal Space EP, the slipstream of sound continues the surge into Ibiza-based dance. Originally from the Netherlands Tom Zeta is living it up on the party Island of Europe. Delving into rhythms and melodies with thoughtful inspirations to build the mental picture, The Click EP displays the classy original and a B-side to back it up. The title-track is written about those times when regardless of social status or time, some people simply get on well. A mutual understanding is achieved, and a strong bond of friendship is seeded within just a few moments. A run of snare and hats shares the airwaves with pulsations of bass that dig deep into a funky groove. Synthesiser sounds then begin to add mechanical interstitial tones that build with the percussive layer. A rhythmic surge begins as vocals enter, feeling the click, we dance to the sensation of group comradery. A wave of rhythmic sound pushes over the track as the drums maintain a continual one-two beat into the distance. Bass and robotic sounds join in as catchy bars pulse with staggered rhythms. As The Click continues, pressure rises as new tides of flow erode the old and elevate the new over and over. Konrad Ritter & NEPH
Bring It Home (Dave DK Remix) Unreel Records Taken from the recently released Finish Your Breakfast EP, the Dave DK Bring It Home Remix is making serious headway with the scene. A technically brilliant house music production, Konrad Ritter & NEPH once again smash the soundwaves with a dapper dose of funky rhythms and neurotic basslines. Dave DK is regarded as a top producer of dancefloor-based material. With this rendition he’s tweaked the original mix to bring out the hall-room vibes that sneak in behind the Konrad Ritter & NEPH style of jazz-funk based motoring. A chewy bass joins a pulsing rhythm to open the tune. Catchy beats are enlivened by mysterious synth sounds that stroke and fortify various bars. A build-up of melody greets vocal samples as the rhythm is boosted with a formation of self-similar layers. Rhythmic tunes loop in the mix as the spiralling rhythms maintain a continual drive to dance. Breaks curdle with the vocal samples with additional effects that create spaciousness and atmosphere. A surge of groovy rhythm patterns then continues the piece with a hypnotic rush of melodic flow. A drapery of desirable bars flutters outward in creative and thought-provoking percussive sound. Popes Of Chillitown
Crashmat Criminal Records UK Ska Rock act Popes of Chillitown have exploded on the scene in recent years with a continual run of great shows and quality music. Signed to London’s Criminal Records, Popes are ready with another killer new single. Crashmat is a song about hitting rock bottom and having to claw yourself up from the depths after refusing help all the way down. Perhaps it’s the warrior’s journey when relying on yourself is put into stark reality. A new album is ready to go at the end of June and this comes with an unmissable tour you won’t regret being a part of. Distortion and feedback ring out as the intro riff begins to pulse with a unique melody. Slicing beats conjure a punchy riff of high-paced energy as the vocals meet guitar and bass. A thumping surge of power then carries the song forward with a rush of tidal kinesis. Brass-wind and distorted guitar slop against thudding bass and hedonistic cymbals as the adventurous lyrics push all the available boundaries. Gripping and sentimental, fruit-salad style mixing brings a whole orchestra of sound to the front as we get led by the hand through a seriously intense carnival of composition.
