Vamberator
Sleep Of The Giant Sleeps Unifaun Productions Psychedelic post-punk alternative sounding delicacies are what we can expect from the future-proof Vamberator. Since the sad passing of the force of nature that remains Caroline Crawley, Shelleyan Orphan stalwart Jem Tayle summons his gusto to begin anew. This time he’s got help from another jewel of the music scene, The Cure’s Boris Williams. As a music duo, Jem and Boris bring their magic together to form something otherworldly and entirely unique. This debut single appears as the first face of the album, Age Of Loneliness, which is on its way via UnifaunProductions. Featuring the bass talents of Goldfrapp, Robert Plant, and The Cult associated Charlie Jones, this constellation of creatives offer the priceless, Sleep Of The Giant Sleeps. A chunky bass thump opens the track with a flow of bubble sounds and juicy keys and guitars. A mosey style rhythm canters along at an easy-going pace as the lyrics begin. A telephone compression adjusts the voice with a warming fizz as the melody embraces the song. A slush of sounds compresses the vibe with soft and flavourful ice, cool and colourful motivations dash and swirl on the beat as the song moves on with poise and grace. A fusion of subtle cabaret hits jazz influences and hedonistic space-age temperaments to dish out a serving of piping hot sonic soup. A soundtrack to dream, we can sit back, the music pushes the imagination into its own adventure. You an get music by Vamberator on Bandcamp You can follow Vamberator on Facebook and Instagram
Snarl
No Good Prodigy Remix London Dancefloor development with a family favourite tune pushed to new dimensions through the lens of exciting modernism, London producer Snarl represents Prodigy’s No Good. This classic banger rips through the generations with its universal throb and punchy aggro, beautifully crafted by master sound technicians. With his equally as immersive and enchanting animation style, Snarl offers a parallel to the music with an inventive video made by himself. Can we get with this new version of that momentous track from the 90s? I should think so. Let’s see what he’s done with it. The music opens with a drone of medium-heavy industry, the whirring mechanical surge seems to be cast from the distance. Up-front and in-your-face, the familiar lyric begins to pump alongside thudding bass and splodging effects that ripple and curl among solid frames of static percussion. A barrage of garage vs drum and bass then soars as dubstep style synth drops bash the formula in increasingly original vibes. Mixtures of sporadic rhythm breaks and avenues of synth exploration divulge the sonic experience bar by bar in aptly altered and modernity infused deliveries of the main piece. Hemlock For Socrates
You’re Not Here Pittsburgh Touring the West-Coast with the stylish [melter], Hemlock For Socrates continue their epoch with You’re Not Here. Following on from the 2022 release Cavern, the post-punk art music duo have been establishing their sound and putting the cement down for their future to be built upon. What’s described as “dark and angry” the art-rock disco rendition of pure emotion hits the rhythm section and dives into melodic progression. About a break-up, that familiar feeling of change either needed or unwanted, the music has a universal edge to its gothic and philosophical handle. A break of drums lashes out with an electro-beat drive before a gated synth adds rhythmic melody. Guitarist and vocalist Heather Shore adds witchy lyricism to the flux as vibrant keyboards jostle with tone and radiance. Beats merge with bass and drums as the keyboards lunge forwards on the pulse to provide a dancing melody. It brings out a marching sense to the psychedelic and mesmerising flow of guitars, synthesisers, and layered harmony. You’re Not Here is a melancholy and emotionally charged rave at the cemetery that makes full use of the multi-instrumentalism of its members. The Speed Of Sound
Underground Big Stir Records In a celebration of 35 exciting years of The Speed Of Sound, the Manchester-based quintet embarked on a ground-breaking trilogy album that signifies their entire curve and provides ample runway for the next instalment. Now on the second chapter, A Cornucopia: Victory, The Speed Of Sound present their new single that precedes the anticipated release. With Minerva behind us, as the highly acclaimed chapter one, Victory at our feet, and Bounty on the horizon, it’s a genuinely great time to get on the train and enlist as a fan of this sparkling wine of a group. Underground is a real scene setter for the album release, due in September, with aspects of influences such as Blondie, Television, Jefferson Airplane, and the B-52s adding their chemistry to the cauldron of this northern powerhouse group. A funky high-hat and snare driven drum score unwraps the song as a volley of twinkling guitar chords and bass tones bring a sunny and upbeat groove. A quick rhythm punches the framework in a barrage of upbeat strides. The vocals begin, wavery guitars begin to radiate with interesting chord shapes as a Bob Dylan style delivery meets Shampoo swagger in a hair wash shower scene of sound. A mix of blues guitar, upbeat punky rhythms and a trad-folk sing-along recipe makes The Speed Of Sound’s Underground infectious and inspiring. Then Comes Silence
Ghost House Metropolis Records They’re heading out on a European tour as their seventh album Trickery is getting great attention worldwide. As they tune up and balance the monitors, Then Comes Silence give us Ghost House. Taken from the record, the single offering gets another push of crowdsourced comradery as the music makes its way to even more listeners. Featuring a duet vocal made possible by EMMON’s Emma Nylen, the track offers something a little different yet founded on the same fundamental principles that make their sound. Pushing the limits of gothic inspired post-punk creativity, the formula meets its match with the strike and direction of the group. Out on Metropolis Records and winding its way around Europe this summer, here is Ghost House from Then Comes Silence. Ethereal keyboards span the horizon of sonic clarity as dappled droplets sparkle on kinetic platforms, like leaves sprinkled with rain on a warm evening, the scene is set in sound. Vocal begins, a delicate melody drifts through a tapestry of blips and vibing atmosphere that creeps and shivers in the brisk air cast by the percussion. Emma Nylen joins in, her voice compliments Alex Svenson with a tessellation of tone that snugly climbs together in a tandem. A forthcoming guitar section pushes the sail out further as the music reaches its finale, then haunting echoes of the song swirl and fidget until they vanish. A tiny epic poem, a drama in a teacup, Ghost House from Then Comes Silence offers a lavish taste of their live shows and many albums. Melter
Blacklist Chicago As they get set for their tour across the US Midwest and East Coast, the devilishly skilful Jax Allos and the staggeringly talented Robert Hyman offer Melter’s Blacklist. Premiered on the 5th of July, the video single pushed their cosmic void darkwave escapology further into the abyss along with rampant rhythms and sonic semblances to keep us company. With a video made at Mok Films, the music was produced and mixed alongside William Faith, who's worked with The Bellwether Syndicate plus Faith and the Muse. Combining the ethereal vibes of darkwave with a ballast of industrial heavyweight percussion, a raw and evocative sonic distortion of blood and computers lurks in the Blacklist. A growling rumble roars into a penetrating drum riff that tumbles along in a roll of kick, snare, tom, and cymbal. A companion surge of synth bass pumps within the groove as Jax Allos enters with her powerful delivery. Her melodies scramble to the pinnacle of the music in confident strides of emotive verse that hit the beats on each word. The music grows and evolves within the flow of the song with new sounds foraging for headspace among the vibrant and intense mix of industrial and gothcore grind sparks. Subtle key-changes within the bass hit the chorus lines as the energy rises with every swivel of the melody. A progressive and grasping number, Blacklist from Melter is hot enough to liquify the living. Grab you copy of Blacklist by Melter on Bandcamp You can follow Melter on Instagram and Facebook
