Originally from the US and now working from her base in Flensburg, Germany, the archetypal Kara Kuckoo continues her music adventure with Moons In Retrograde. Finding a soulful mix of dark trip-hop and electronic gothic hyperpop, Moons In Retrograde conjures a sense of mystery and yonder forces that we can’t ignore. She’s about to release her debut album, The Third Side Of The Coin. Taken from the record is a reworking of her imaginative and principal composition The Rotten Tree. It takes on a new form and is wrapped up for us in a fantastic video. This is Kara’s first proper outing as a solo artist, having worked as a lyricist and singer for In Winter and Azure Noir, she’s extended her reach significantly and taken to music production like a natural. Inverted influence and cosmic ebbs await. 
 
Haunting music glides in gracefully, dappled tones and strange sonics move into position as the amplitude lifts. Kara enters with a vocal, mournful and ceremonial, the electric guitar chugs like a grunge musician within a squash of drum, bass, and oddity. Strings and synth ripple like riverbanks touching the steady stream. A marching pace reveals heartbeat like pulsations as a blues and darkwave sense dresses up like Kraftwerk and then graffities all over it. With dayglow colours and arcane scrawlings in lipstick, no less. Sensual and resonant, a dream within a shadowplay covers us like satin sheets as the sun does down.
