If you move around as much as their music makes you feel like moving then you’d be more than Half Dizzy. The Long Island skate and ska punk spring-stepped rockers recently won the Best Long Island Band title in a fan poll run by Alternative Press. The reputable music journal mentioned that “the new generation has some serious heat”. You don’t need to tell me, do you need to be re-educated? Fade Away is the latest track from Half Dizzy is out now on Punkerton Records. There’s a brilliant lyrics video that you can watch, read, and learn the words with, if you like blasting your voice like a melodious noise-maker. Danny Marchelewski makes it look easy as he deftly plays his guitar and belts out the vocals. Giving this year’s summer a soundtrack we can fall back on any time we like, it’s Fade Away from Half Dizzy.

It begins with a relative visiting a grave, laying flowers, and putting the title in context. The silence is broken like the first morning and everything comes back to life. The band hit the chord harmonies and the drumming takes control. Huge snare-led riffs crash through the chord progressions as the growing track increases with its reach. Continual energy keeps pushing the song on through a series of break-neck sections that clamour with everything we love about this genre. Melodies that sink into harmonic sections, shouts of joy, and lots of flashy musicianship, palm-muted greatness reverberates around the room.
