Their first in fifteen years, the self-titled album is zipping along the motorway and will be with us within weeks. Atlanta’s Dropsonic know a thing or two about making mean and energetic sounds. They’ve been there before and now, after a much-earned respite from relentlessness, they’re back and with bigger teeth than before. The second single from the new record is So Long, it follows up from Honeytrap that sparked the bonfire earlier this year after such a long period of nothing new. Maybe the sticky sit-down indulgence has worn off and the band are full of sweet sugary energy that translates into performance. This new album was co-produced by the band and William DuVall, frontman of Alice In Chains. The infusion of modern and traditional influence getting the best sets of hands, this new chapter of Dropsonic has a lot more in-store than what fans could have dreamed of.  
 
A juicy guitar riffs opens the track, buffed with a resonance that builds into amplitude as the verse begins. The vocals hit, as the guitar chugs with a motorcycle style energy the music paces itself with poetry and picture. The tune is a classic rock sensation and with chunky band work behind the machine, the industrial edge vibrates with an aliveness reminiscent of the 90s. Memorable choruses strike with swooping melody and headbang chords that offer a slow-motion surge into pits and parties. As the synthesiser adds its motif, a great 1970s energy leaps from the page and begins to jam with the modern sounding guitar. Before the music ends, we get another dose of chorus, and the classic chunky riff returns to keep the title So Long in our minds.
