With their new album on its way, the glam industrial duo PIG hit us hard with Tosca’s Kiss. Raymond Watts and his songwriting companion, ex Pitchshifter and Prodigy, Jim Davies, have just put down 10 originals titled Hurt People Hurt. The album is due to unveil on the 22nd. Until then we have this brand-new music video directed by Blackswitch Labs icon E Gabriel Edvy. Influenced by Watts’ love of Opera music, Tosca’s Kiss has all the ingredients you’d expect plus a bit of extra flare to expand and open your mind. Elemental healing through the medium of powerful and provocative tunes, express yourself and leave a little lighter. Tune in.  
 
A classical piano melody begins the track, then layers of industrial begin to bump it up with grit and fire. A furnace of moving melody then thrusts forward; the piano riff acting like a spine as the synth and bass adds arms, fingers, legs, and toes, then Raymond Watts begins with his vocals. A shouted melody with a gruff and gravelly edge takes the intelligent lyricism to emotional heights and formidable lows as the industrial composition swirls and jags along the frothing rhythms and bursting tension. Discordant harmonies then add extra grips of atmosphere for the finishing bars. They twist our insides a little and give us a sense of new and crooked direction.

I’m fondly reminded of listening to John Peel on Radio One while washing dishes at the Italian restaurant many years ago, he’d refer to his wife as The Pig. On this side of modernity, Pig means none other than Raymond Watts from KMFDM. He’s just released a new album, called Red Room, featuring Crumbs Chaos and Lies plus Dum Dum Bullet which saw Pig work alongside a full choir plus plenty of prolific producers of sound. The album sets a dark and ethereal scene for the autumn/fall tour, kicking off at the end of September. Heroin For The Damned is bound to be a sweet and sickly anaesthetic that leaves listeners numb and dissociated from their troubles. Thank goodness it’s industrial post-punk and electronic mastery. This is Dirty Mercy. 
 
It begins with crowd sounds, chanting and stamping to the impending rhythm. A buzzing squelch synthesiser voice then kicks off the flow as a guitar joins the drums with a punky blues lick. The vocals enter, like a built-up tower of layers, the quick-step progression launches the song into action with immediate effect. A distorted sense of filth and secrecy ambiently swerves from sensibility to mania as the thrust of the song keeps pushing with infectious climbs. A female voice hits the waves as the guitar begins to cast its own magical spell with notes sparking and fluttering from the fretboard. A fun and greasy number that rolls out a party atmosphere where-ever it’s played, Dirty Mercy has everything you need.
