Philadelphia punk band The Bad Ups raise the flag to signify a new album on the horizon. As the banner flies, the soundtrack to the excitement comes in the form of Ego Trip. A cracker single from the new record, it sums up everything about the band in one swoop of the jib. Out on Jump Start Records from September 27th, Life Of Sin offers a full-length escape into the musical and mental landscape of the band. Utilising the open-fire energy of the early 2000s punk scene and fulfilling the design with a rhythm and ska backbone, this vertebrate sound offers their antithesis, what happens when we lose our spine. Ego Trip sets the tone.  
 
Gruff distortion and and upbeat vocal melody begins the music with punchy and energetic sound. The drumming kicks in and lifts the spirits even higher as the snare-driven beat snaps to the bar with chords pounding in continual harmonies to the voice. The music takes a turn into cosmic strangeness in between the choruses, like an ego trip, the thoughts and sensations take over and the energy of the cosmos finds you wanting on every level. Hiding behind blindfolded bliss may work for some but for everyone else involved it really is a tragedy.
