Vamberator
I Need Contact (Rolo McGinty Remix) New Reality Records The latest Vamberator single premiered last Friday. Although sent to me way last week, it’s only just gone live on YouTube, so that’s my signal to write. Their highly enjoyed I Need Contact has been given the remix treatment by Woodentops stalwart Rolo McGinty. Ex members of The Cure and Shelleyan Orphan, Jemaur Tayle and Boris Williams, Vamberator continue the post-punk and emo-positive escapade that began all those years ago in the 2000s. Bravely carrying on after the untimely passing of band member Caroline Crawley, the band revive some classic retro feels and dress them up in modern clothing. Always in the same circles from the early days, Jemaur, Boris, and Rolo teamed up to bring expert mixing skills and Vamberator originality to the desk. Released on a customised USB stick with unlimited downloads too, plus streaming, Contact is made. Let the energy flow. Slow, graceful, absorbing tones radiate and flow in a salient stream of emotional description. A song begins to form; words resonate in cello sounds and obscure electric guitar. Melancholy feelings spiral like pen lines, drawing within clouds of stormy evening light. The jazz crooner style hits home, although there’s no jazz and there’s no grand piano. The vocals swell in poetic schemes and sophisticated passages of charm and humble sentiment. It’s an over and out kind of track, one to be played at the end of the night. Imps Unifaun Productions / Marakash Records Shelleyan Orphan fans can rest assured that after the untimely passing of Caroline Crawley, the rest of the band are still ready and writing. Jemaur Tayle has established himself with ex-Cure drummer Boris Williams as the dynamic Vamberator. It all began when Shelleyan Orphan were invited to support The Cure on their Disintegration tour. Becoming fans of the upstarts, their gothic and alternative sound gelled immediately with the time-tested retro goodness Robert Smith’s boys are known for. Alongside Goldfrapp and The Cult bass player Charlie Jones and Unifaun Productions boss Max Marchini, Jem and Boris bring it on with their fusion of new and vintage sounds. They’ve even enlisted Caroline Crawley’s daughter Inky into the mix for her angelic voice. A new chapter fully open and the pages turning fast, Vamberator have been enjoying the instant success of their latest album Age Of Loneliness. It has been streamed all over the planet and now fans can get the hard copy to keep for future generations. To ensure their project gets the best runway possible, their hit song Imps has been granted the video treatment and is now enjoying its own niche audience. Let’s tune in. The music opens true to style with a twinkling, eerie synthesiser motif. A break of drums cracks open the egg and a yolk of upbeat goth-pop spans out into the frying pan. Strangeness and mystery hug the melody in abstract melodic swerves and epic choral harmonies. Keyboards come alive within bracing guitar riffs that holler with blues fantasy and rock n roll glamour. A spiralling sense of determinism keeps the energy up in the air as a progressive formula invites new corners to the room with every turn of the head. Eyes and hands manifest as the vision of the song leaps from its composition, soaring dramatizations of feeling with a true sense of British community, a fizz of polar forces come together and complete the magnet as a tuning fork set to Grade A. Sleep Of The Giant Sleeps Unifaun Productions Psychedelic post-punk alternative sounding delicacies are what we can expect from the future-proof Vamberator. Since the sad passing of the force of nature that remains Caroline Crawley, Shelleyan Orphan stalwart Jem Tayle summons his gusto to begin anew. This time he’s got help from another jewel of the music scene, The Cure’s Boris Williams. As a music duo, Jem and Boris bring their magic together to form something otherworldly and entirely unique. This debut single appears as the first face of the album, Age Of Loneliness, which is on its way via UnifaunProductions. Featuring the bass talents of Goldfrapp, Robert Plant, and The Cult associated Charlie Jones, this constellation of creatives offer the priceless, Sleep Of The Giant Sleeps. A chunky bass thump opens the track with a flow of bubble sounds and juicy keys and guitars. A mosey style rhythm canters along at an easy-going pace as the lyrics begin. A telephone compression adjusts the voice with a warming fizz as the melody embraces the song. A slush of sounds compresses the vibe with soft and flavourful ice, cool and colourful motivations dash and swirl on the beat as the song moves on with poise and grace. A fusion of subtle cabaret hits jazz influences and hedonistic space-age temperaments to dish out a serving of piping hot sonic soup. A soundtrack to dream, we can sit back, the music pushes the imagination into its own adventure. You an get music by Vamberator on Bandcamp You can follow Vamberator on Facebook and Instagram |
