Viking sentiments meet brass wind and percussion. A pairing of saxophonists and a talented rhythm maker bring a techno edge to the simplistic yet gifted sound of Smag På Dig Selv (SPDS). Their reputation for being a premiere act on the Danish alternative scene gives them precedence and foundation. Meeting the mark with a new album, the band are getting ready for its release next year. This latest single, Let’s Go! was released just last week and sets a tone of entertainment and intrigue in a double-axe of Baltic dynamism. Produced by the in-demand TMI Tammy, expect banging rhythms, mysterious sonics, and throat singing direct from the age of longships.  
 
A strange sound of swirling notes and repeating phrases builds, it has a Tangerine Dream feel to it yet the saxophone timbre is clear as sunshine. A rapid ceremonial flurry of notes shifts to bursts of horn-like blasts that assemble around a throb of drum and pulse. The break hits, a techno beat reaches out with a psy-trance direction. Throbbing tones and frantic brass display a tightly woven craft of tapestry and sound. Simple elements mix with complex motions that all sway together in a beautifully choreographed framework of organic efforts. As predictable as a computer yet as flowing as the ocean, we’re on solid ground as long as we’re on board.
