Wolfgang Lohr & Ashley Slater
Friend Like Me (Electro Swing Mix)
Electro Swing Thing
Wolfgang Lohr is back again with his indispensable team member Ashley Slater. The Berlin based producer and writer has worked with British trombone player Ashley Slater before. Known for releasing inventive renditions of Ghostbusters and Losing You as well as Zat You Santa Claus and Keep On Smiling, the duo are back with Friend Like Me. They have taken all the magic of Disney, mixed it with the mystique of Aladdin’s Genie, and thrown all three wishes in for good measure. Having learned to play the trombone to professional standard, the narrator of children’s TV series Boo! Ashley Slater found a place among a jazz band and alongside some keystone figures on the scene including Norman Cook aka Fat Boy Slim (signed merch). Taking the next step with FDF Label founder Wolfgang Lohr, who’s amassed millions of streams for his mixes and music, brings the two talents into wide reaching fields of memory and brand new experience.
The music curls into our ears on a swerving effect. A new tempo and rhythm section meets the traditional tune. We can recall the lyrics and the screenplay as the up-beat and dance inspired mix throws its moves. A crazy run of various swing motifs rampage through the music with fun and lively attitudes fixed in place from the original. It’s fascinating, funny, and fearless, Wolfgang Lohr and Ashely Slater’s version of Friend Like Me is as catchy as they can be.
