It’s the middle of Winter in the beautiful country of New Zealand, where the post-punk duo Breaches live and create their phenomenal sound. Finding a snug open-ended niche between the rolling fields of indignation and the charming sparkle of social situations, the pair take the lead and offer a soundtrack to the suburban underground. Behind the prim hedges and a stone’s throw from the dusty lane, little pockets of counterculture thrive on the best-bits so often flouted by the glossy masses. Twist The Knife is the first song written by the band and now enjoys its rightful listing on YouTube as a brilliantly made video. The band are busy making new music and as they prepare to play alongside the UK band Attrition in November, the sun is getting higher in the sky and Breaches further their climb in all directions.  
 
A blast of cosmic synthesiser opens the gate and allows the flow of music to push through via cymbals and snare. The kick sets in and an epic guitar reaches into the stereo with wide open arms. The simple melody repeats and captivates us as the notes twirl and revolve on the plinth. Vocals with a huge resonance and a depth like the caverns of fantasy then launch into the mix. Gothic and shudderingly spooky, the song lurches into our dream-realm and withers all the flowers. A catchy groove roars onward through the music with a cool guitar line that holds the punk flag among the bones and rusty broadswords. Electronic atmospherics hold a fusion of ghostly occultations and rock n roll vibes as the heavy rush of sound runs from start to finish.
