A single from the upcoming new album, Automated Paradise, the duo of Jah Wobble, once a member of Public Image Ltd, and Jon Klein of Siouxsie and The Banshees fizzles into frequency with Fading Away. As we tune in to their tuning out, we wonder what kinds of messages and feelings are about to be delivered. Post-punk attitudes with modern-day motivations combined with a long-standing expert quality musicianship, Jah Wobble and Jon Klein combine their fire to bring a new wave of sudden, imploding, and explosive sounds. The third album recorded by the pair, Automated Paradise is due out on March 27th. That’s still quite a way off, so maybe this isn’t the first spoonful of angry gloom we can expect from this project before the main dish is served cold, naturally.

It opens with a searing synth riff that sprinkles with icicle like shows of tone. Underneath a bass bumps along in time to the abstract high-tone melody. The vocals hit, it’s a bit robotic, the projection feels like its metered and hitting the mark as if itwere preprogrammed. We can hear it;s a human, the breaking of emotional understanding within the words gives it away. The electro style punch of the music builds as the story explores our modern relationship with digital companions. Are we losing what it means to be human when we give so much of ourselves over to the systems that keep us safe and happy? The song is inventive, modern, and it has a message that resonates with all of us.
