The electronic music goliaths Damage Control explore some seriously heavy and deep dimensions for their latest collaboration with Denmark’s Leæther Strip. Based in Australia and Europe, the industrial digital fourpiece always offer something extra intellectual with their epic style. This time they’ve delved into the sound scope of customised Kemper guitar amps, pushing the boundary of the normal into extraordinary semblances. A direct follow up to their January single release Rage, Oblivion again finds its feet with the guest vocal slot filled by Leæther Strip. Produced by Chris Peterson and engineered by Greg Reely, the record is delivered in the garb of bands like Fear Factory, Skinny Puppy, and Front Line Assembly. They’ve both been instrumental in the making of Damage Control’s next record, Oblivion Grid. It’s not formally announced so no date yet. That’s fine because this new track has more than enough meat on the bone to keep us occupied.

Murky underground sounds echo through the tunnelling as a searing synth rises from the chaos and darkness. A grinding atmosphere permeates as the drums begin to offer a dirging tempo. Leæther Strip begins with his vocals, gruff and industrial in style, his melody extends into baritone and tenor as his artistic projection displays professional grooming. The synthesisers and guitars work together to create a disturbing shudder that manifests further as the music progresses. A breakdown carries a melodic section outward like grim bunting along ghost town avenues. Welcome to Oblivion.
