Fun And Thoughtful With A Pang Of Anxiety Dark Pop Midniter Reveals Alarmist

Indie electronic music with a dark pop flavour from Midniter, this latest track Alarmist is fearful of an oncoming authoritarianism. The important work of thinker and artist Nic Pugh, Midniter explores the themes of LGBTQ and liberal ideology, with side notes on the state of the nation. Written during January, around the time of Donald Trump’s inauguration, the music sets straight into panic mode. Let’s just say Nic didn’t vote red this time around. He feels that Trump is bringing authoritarianism and right-wing ethics that do nothing but create fear and division. Thankfully it’s not as bad as it seems as this song is legally released in the United States. In the land of individualism, finding full fascism is going to be difficult. Never-the-less, we all know what it feels like to be ignored by the people supposed to listen. Don’t be like that, that’s an order.

Dreamy synth tones shine like sunshine, as a thumping bass begins to hit the pulse. The music is steady, relaxed, and contains colour within a minor key. Nic Pugh starts to sing, the vocals are like soul and pop, elements of Michael Jackson and Aerosmith become a force of their own with a unique and rock n roll sway that carries forward. The music leaps with a break as the verse chorus section completes its procedure, the crunch of rhythm under the foot of the bass keeps moving as the undertones throw the direction toward differing angles.
