Since releasing her latest album Carnival, her first proper record for ten years, Juliet Lloyd has been back in the studio to create Reno Cure. A recent divorcee with the emotions and dramas of this life-change framing her songwriting muse, Reno Cure is another dose of liberation. In the 1950s you could live in Nevada for just six weeks and then legally claim a no-fault divorce. It was the simplest and cheapest option for most people, who wanted freedom without the legal comeuppance. Currently touring the UK, enjoying our beautiful sunny weather, the indigenous and the integral folk of Great Britain are enjoying the Americana-tinged blues rock feels of Juliet Lloyd in return.

It enters on a dainty nylon string melody that bobbles in tuneful jumps of tone. Juliet starts to sing; her captivating voice hangs like gentle sheets on the gradually bumping up rhythm. She swears, letting us know she’s only human and then we, intrigued, continue to listen. Her song rumbles on and up, powerful sensations keep the torque as the machinery of her heart carries the load forward with grace and poise. A few weeks in Reno and the full house is all yours.
