The latest single from their long-awaited album, I Smashed The Looking Glass takes Manchester alt-rock outfit Weimar into the realms of surreal psychedelia. The track looks into the modern day issues around identity crisis and public versus private personas. Especially with social media and expressive communication, sometimes we make every effort to appear as something we are not or as what we wish we were. A Mancunian super-group, Weimar is comprised of four big names from stage and sound. Stephen Sarsen from Frank Is Dead and Playground is on guitar, Eddy Edwards of The Deceased is on the drums, John Armstrong of The Speed Of Sound plays the bass, and Aiden Cross from Black Light Mutants is on vocals and guitar. Based in kind on the Kraftwerk track, Hall Of Mirrors, this rock anthem explores the artist's public persona from another angle.


A spooky bass and guitar unison breaks into a funky driving sound as blues rises from the dashboard stereo. The groove and rhythm elevates with artistic drum-fills and poetic lyrics. Spoken word vocal with melodic elocution revels in the fun and lively musicianship that keeps the flow moving at energetic speed. Odd little moments of creepy background sounds swirl in between the verses that kindle a vibrant and mysterious energy. The spell is broken and a new one is cast as the looking glass is smashed and all the spirits are let out of their captivity.
