The northern hemisphere summer is keeping the pace and it’s steady as she goes for many of us here. To appreciate the timing of our activities, and to bring yet more searingly good electronic dark-pop to your ears, this is the latest single from Germany’s Rotersand. The Hamburg-based duo, Rascal Nikov and Krischan Jan-Eric Wesenberg, are letting out snippets of their new album Don’t Become The Thing You Hated. It’s unleashed on the 8th of August. Not long to go now. Sexiness Of Slow makes its way to dancefloors and living rooms, maybe even car journeys to reveal the delicate tension that arises in tender and sensual moments. Blending oxytocin with adrenalin to over-ride the cortisol requires a keen understanding of music, rhythm, and writing. Putting the soul and story into music that makes a good dance piece so we can express all that feeling, this is Sexiness Of Slow from Rotersand.

A striking gothic drum rhythm accompanies synthetic heavy breathing as the music opens with bass that throbs and pulses in a grasping tempo. The lyrics enter; imagery and descriptors frame the abstraction and sensation as the Tricky-style voice continues with push and pull directions. A punchy disco themed undercarriage of rhythm bounces with vibrant bass that revolves around a stepping motion with huge orchestral stabs that melodically enrich the breaks. It keeps going and surges through the wall of the radio edit with another minute of morish and motivational sound. Sexiness Of Slow is a moody and intimate track that sits just above the goth funk section.
