They’ve evolved into the next level of heavy, hard, and dark and Jesus On Extasy are back with their brutal new album. It’s due out on September the 12th and is called Between Despair And Disbelief. The single, out now, is titled Soul Crusher and is designed to do exactly that with its hard-hitting and masterful mix of gothic, metal, and darkwave. Written about the loss of a loved one and all the ideals of the person begin to crumble, when you start to wonder if you even knew the real them at all, the fallibility of the eyes is revealed every time. It is Soul Crushing, as is most passionate disillusionment, and it makes the perfect emotional energy to make a tunnel through your innards. Listed to tour Europe in September, after the album is out, it’s the right time to begin the adventure with this first new offering.

Electro bass and drums begin the music with a surge of rhythmic energy. Deep horns then sound over the artificial mountains as new grinding tones and drum-breaks drive in. The lyrics begin, soft and intimate, poetic and industrial, the verse leans in and draws us closer. Then, with a burst of electronic potential, the music reels on its axis and begins to shout the title with heavy guitars and bashing riffs that carry the chaos through the unmapped regions. It’s got a heavy gothic edge that pumps with frantic synth riffs that harmonise and bounce from mixings of bass, guitar, and chord progression. Like Skinny Puppy after a Marilyn Manson party, the industrial darkwave rock sound pushes beyond boundary and breaks all the bollards.
