Girls Like Me (alleykat Remix) Metropolis Records From her early creative days in the 90s industrial band Drill to her membership of the legendary KMFDM, who she has been involved with across twelve albums and twenty-five years to date, Lucia Cifarelli brings her own direction to the front. She’s shared the stage with not only her own super-star band, she’s also worked alongside people like Marilyn Manson and Gang of Four. Her solo work puts the talent and dreams on the burner and boils up a banquet of personal inspiration and drive. Her new track is a remix of Girls Like Me, which was the opening track of her second album I Am Eye. The remix has been compiled by house and techno artist alleykat, who enjoys a residency in L.A. A fusion of ethics from the dance scene and the industrial powerhouse, it’s wake up time with Girls Like Me. A roaring bass twists into motion as high-end blips continue the pulse. A waft of drum layers and siren sounds then break into the vocal. Lucia offers her vocal, it sits atop the rhythm and takes on a percussion of its own. Swirling electronic ambiences divide the walls of quick rhythms and melodic techno phrases. As the mix of electronic and vocal sounds leans in to intimate closeness, the lead melody captivates and embraces as the rhythm pushes through. Heavy thumping bass then returns as hats and melody throb on the edge. Each line is splices to fit perfectly in the progression, we know when their coming, and we eagerly wait for the originality of the lyric.
