Set a date for June the 5th, when The Joy Thieves uncage their white-knuckle Apocalypse Pending LP on Armalyte Industries. To keep us hungry, the appetiser is presented with a video made by Joel Lopez at Lumbra Productions. Exhibiting the soulquaking vocals of Chris Connelly, known from Pigface, Ministry, Revolting Cocks, and Fini Tribe, the single pushes the band's sound into ever deeper valleys of crunch and thunder. Known worldwide as a supergroup of phenomenal talents, The Joy Thieves are guided by the twin forces of James Scott and Dan Milligan. The wider band has a rotating roster of reputation, sporting members of Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie's band, Depeche Mode, KMFDM, Killing Joke, and many more. Now we know where all the joy went to. A downward torrent of chords and rhythm collapses around us as the music revs into action. A guitar driven electronic atmosphere ensures we're captivated as the lyrics begin. Chanting, singing, spoken word, poetry, it's an onslaught of imagery, verb, and emotion that surges with relentless ferocity. An industrial metal backbone bounces between vibrating bass strings and reverberating drums as the top end dramatises with theatrical expression. A patchwork of riffs, breakdown, and rhythmic overlaps brings a fuelled dynamism that rips up the road as we watch in awe.
