Reeling in the quality and depth of eastern musical tradition and presenting it with all the modern craft of the west, UK fusion act Tian Qiyi invite us to Watch The Sunrise. Taken from their new album Music For Workers, this single showcases the soon-to-be-released sophomore record. It seems that the nation has been hungry for the flavours of oriental tradition, Tian Qiyi have been given premium airtime from the likes of Stuart Maconie, Gideon Coe, Mark Riley, and John Kennedy. They bring in influences ranging from the momentous Miles Davies to the casual and creative Kula Shaker via classics like Cornershop and The Stone Roses. With an intriguing mix of genre blending experimental expeditionary tracks, June 28th will reveal the full extent of the new record which features their talented father, Jah Wobble. In the meantime, we can sit back, enjoy the spring months, and Watch The Sunrise over and over. 
 
An ethnic steel string melody begins; fast notes trill in between ambient atmospheres. A curtain of bass then draws across the stage depicting intricate emotions and powerful feelings. A musicality of high drama manifests through the curdling of tone and mesmerism with vocals following the bass line and drawing in peculiar harmonies through the mysterious scales.  Classical and modern elements sit atop poetic explorations of scene and motif as the snaking and mysterious tune evolves and pushes on through the deepening thicks. An adventure with a subtle hypnotism, we’re left wondering where to go next. There’s a debut album to enjoy before Music For Workers appears in June.
