Taken from their Backroom Sessions EP, which cosies up with New York City quintet Ecce Shnak, Craig’s List Jawn Nay! Yay! Reveals new material to coincide with their upcoming tour. Playing alongside EMF and Spacehog, the artrock crowd on the West Coast will be treated to some seriously seductive and cerebral sound. The EP is a four-track snippet that also highlights performances of Jeremy. Utilitarian Sadboy (live), Prayer On Love (live), and Fight Song (live). A rip of drums and distortion opens the track before a Zappa-esque vocal hits with wavering harmonies. The pulsations of music change as the drumming shifts with subtle instrumental jibs. A manic tapestry of mosaic abstraction spills colours and angles in flowing pours that settle in newly found inkblots of rock n roll. With the downturn, the mellowness of the song lifts and reveals pretty tunes and poetic nursery rhyme style lines that hypnotise and soothe. A flow of sound then washes over and reminds us of the other side of this group. Loud and noisy, with a dash of insanity.
