In her mysterious music studio of alchemy and blessing, South Africa’s Hunter As A Horse creates mysterious and evocative electronic craft songs that balance on the line between mainstream and unusual. The enchanting style she captures has already been laid down on a generous run of self-released EPs and singles. At the beginning of the year, Hunter As A Horse signed to Metropolis Records and her story became a little more exciting. From her early days of experimenting with technology and creativity, to professional spheres of sound production and audience mesmerism, here is her second single as a newly signed musician, Here’s To All The Ones.

A retro style rhythm begins and a Blondie edge opens with vocal and synth. The upbeat pop melody reverberates on the introspective key changes in the backdrop to create a juxtaposition of energies. We sit in between them and enjoy the flow as it billows out and beyond with the progression. Beats keep the pace as the motion of melody rises and falls like the waves against a heavy ship, moored in the harbour, buzzing with anticipation. Off we go, a lurch forward and the graceful transaction into non-inertia. We listen on, the sounds merge and flicker across synths, guitar, and bass-filled drumming.
