The second single from his soon-to-be out album, Pop The Smoke is about disappearing all of a sudden and having no regrets about it. The solo project of the industrial music producer and composer, Skold highlights the versatile and dynamic distinction behind his sought-after skills. Having worked as a member of Marilyn Manson and as one half of Not My God. He’s also worked with KMFDM on a few studio albums and their quirky side-project MDFMK. Tim Skold entered the music business during the 80s when his band, Shotgun Messiah, made it into the bigtime. Since those early formative days, the Skold brand has evolved and enlarged to incorporate much more than smoke and mirrors. So, let’s Pop The Smoke and see what there is through the looking glass.

Mechanical scrapes submerge into chaos before a sinking keyboard tone begins to produce a ghostly minor key melody. Skold enters on the vocal, drab and melancholy, the voice drips with resonant emotion and an exhaustion we can taste. The sense of the music creates a slow-moving river of feeling that courses by in gradual grace. The poetic heart of the song mirrors against harmonies that dig wells into the soul and draw deep from the mana within. A silky production follows patterns of stitching and shaped folds that create intricate and emotive textures within the gothic grotto of sound.
