The electronic alternative scene in the UK is thriving, with no small part played by the enchanting Bea Elmy Martin. A dialogue of emotional sharpness and inner world exploration carries her gossamer influence across boundaries. Growing up around real and classic music, icons like Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder adorned her formative years. Learning how melody and feeling work together to explain the intangible inner dimension, Bea Elmy Martin quickly developed her own sense of intimate poignancy that still reflects beautifully in her work. Since Blue Escape, her 2021 debut, Bea Elmy Martin has deliberately taken the slow and steady road with her producer, Dominic J. Goldsmith. This ultimately led to her celebrated album, Under The Yew. The second record has taken the same name. Presented as a sequel, Under The Yew II will surface later this year. From the record is this delicately poised sound sculpture, Written On Me. It’s today’s feature.

An almost silent note begins the piece before Bea enters with her delicate power. The emotional clarity mingles with a vulnerable humanity as her melody expands and touches the horizon, gradually owning the sunrise. Piano and atmosphere build a foundation of meandering feels and moments of imaginary smiles. A band then flows from the missing spaces, revealing even more shape and form to the production. The heavenly verses continue to glide across brass and synthesiser as the drumming explores a poignant drama nestled within the grace.
