A dancefloor focused industrial electronic sound gives US-based genCAB a clear direction and sustainable energy at every turn. Founded by David Dutton and featuring drummer Tim Van Horn, genCAB bring a foundation of consistent talent to the fold. The pair have toured extensively with Aesthetic Perfection, and finding the time to create this unmissable sound has not been easy. This new track comes along with a Lost Signal remix for Unsolved and a cover of an early Nine Inch Nails song. Open Grave is about balancing self-assuredness with self-sabotage. A human condition often puts our worst foot forward and then we’re expected to walk in a straight line. We can stumble, trip, and faulter, but let’s keep going. The press release says this song is begging to be ignored. Who writes this stuff?  
 
Petally synths open in tones and tangent before the stamen of rhythm breaks free. Gates synths pulse and rotate along functioning bass that punches with immediate effect. The vocal begins; classic industrial effects give the voice a crisp and computerised sound and the human drama within the fusion releases a tension that we can feel. A persistent rhythm pushes onward as the music shifts position like a machine, giving wheels of motion space to revolve and adjust before the next section falls into place. As the heavy boxes of feeling and sound flow from cage to cage along conveyors of percussion, the music carries us on like pigeons sitting on the framework. Helpless, we’re mindlessly moved from caption to caption, hypnotised by the funk and glued to the gloom.
