Putting The Fun In Funk Zkeletonz Prepare For Happy Business And Going OUT!

They don’t have a manager, they don’t have a record deal, and they don’t have a full-time agent. Never-the-less, does it really matter when you’re good enough to be played by top-notch entertainment DJs like Scott Mills, Tony Blackburn, and Tom Robinson. They’ve also performed live alongside huge names like The Specials, Nile Rogers, and the culture star Craig Charles. Zkeletonz crowd-funded their album, called OUT! and it makes sure their premiere sound of retro infused rock n funk electronica leaves a permanent mark on the world. This is the first of three planned records, which will make their debuts over the next couple of years. Taken from the new album, out in the last few days, this is title-track OUT!

It begins with a bubbling bass and a melody that makes you move. The drums and vocal then begin, choppy lyrics sit like retro hip-hop chorus lines, and this is just the verse. A throbbing bass digs down deep as the synths roil up and charge with a wave of multi-layered harmony and direction. As the chorus unfolds, the track leans in and out with lots of melody and rhythm, the driving sense of motoring beats drags us by the feet and makes us want to dance. Funk and flow, the sounds build with disco chords and a Scissor Sisters style vocal style that’s fun as well as infectious.
