Raising funds for victims of the devastating floods in Spain, Ransom Note Records release Amor i Ritme: Valencia Relief Fundraiser. It’s a huge multi-artist record with 27 musicians and bands putting their work on this release. The whole record makes use of some of Spain’s best electronic music makers plus draws in talent from the international scene. Comprising of electro, EBM, techno, ambient, industrial, house, and much more, Amor i Ritme: Valencia Relief Fundraiser puts a lot of thought and care from many fascinating angles of sound into their social relief effort. The record was made with the guidance of Spanish artists Orion Agassi and Luishock plus with the help of Pili Rodriguez. Unifying genres, labels, and artists into one effort of cumulative good-will is a huge task however with something as tangible as the after-effects of killer floods, the wheels turn easily. A house-stye rhythm opens the package with chewy underscores of bass that plucks in vibrant funk motions. The drumming elevates and the bass increases its scope in a unique fulfilment of the intro. New layers of dancing melody enter on the low end, spiralling beats continue to dapple the sides with penetrating hats and jagged snare. Raindrop like synths then begin the squeak and drip through various openings in the mix, lending a loose and damp sensation to the electronic and swirling program. Oscillator voices begin to chirp like retro birds in black and white animation as eerie atmospheres roll in from the distant colourful mountains. A strange and percussive landscape manifests via stretching bars of repetition and evolution, hypnotic and intuitive, the depth of the design is worth exploring several times.
