Oregonian existentialism can only mean spending time in the proverbial dusty attic. As we rummage through the half-closed cardboard boxes and pull back the nostalgic old-fashioned blankets, we may find ourselves with Old Cross. This melodic and intellectual punk trio from the Pacific Northwest have been keeping us entertained since 2018 when they released their first EP. A record deal and an album later, the band are set with their second full-length record Dead End Lullabies. It’s out on October 25th, so we get plenty of time to absorb the new single and make room at the top of the house for the ideas and adventures on offer this summer.  
 
Twinkling guitar melodies punch into drums and chords as the tide rises with ample force. As the music surges forward into the verse, the wave recedes for a moment to let the vocal make its mark. A thunderous bass tone hangs in the space between the chords as the drama and poetry launches from muse to mayhem as the realisations of philosophical truth flicker from view.  Questioning everything and feeling all the torrents of helplessness in a world made for confident understanding, The Attic is a concentrated stockpile of ghosts.
