Juliet Lloyd
Wild Again Carnival She’s back at the top of the league after more than ten years away from the career she loves. When she released her last album back in 2007, USA-based pianist and singer Juliet Lloyd felt that she’d done all she could. Now she’s back in business with the passion and drive emerging in new and courageous ways. What began as a piano and song writing adventure has now matured into a fully-fledged music career with plenty of influences building a varied and unique journey. Her new album is called Carnival with Wild Again making itself known across the airwaves. A UK tour is on, with dates set for July at various snug and intimate venues around the nation. The single is written about the Orca from Free Willy. The whale was featured in a NY Times podcast about releasing him into the wild. The fact that marine experts were training him how to be wild was a strange paradox that only makes sense when you forget the usual meaning of the words. Change is often traumatic for people so we can imagine the orca experiencing stress as it learns to survive on its own. Is it a plain as black and white, or is the contrast only skin deep? What a Carnival. Let’s listen. An upbeat and memorable intro brings out a pop rhythm with a great funky bassline. Synthesiser tones jangle and chime with a sonic flurry of polyphonic dance as the song begins. Juliet Lloyd sings with a gorgeous voice. Her lyrics tell of a story in sweet and morish lines that hum with musical resonance. The harmonies expand with the opening of the lines as the moves take on verse to chorus momentum alongside choppy classic rock sensationalism within the design. The meaningful philosophy within the song takes us deeper into the mental picture while the easy-going and devilishly clever music composition carries us on like a live ocean current.
