Great White Shark
From What Do Whales Dream About At Night
New York City
Opening the gift of the new album layer by layer, Jessie Kilguss presents her latest cinematic single. The mastering and mixing for this record was done by the fingers of Charlie Nieland, who's worked with Blondie, Debbie Harry, and Rufus Wainwright. Produced in turn by Adam Lasus, known for work with Helium, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Yo La Tengo, this star-studded album features Grammy-Award winning LA composer Naren Rauch, Brian Griffin of Patti Smith and Lana Del Rey fame, and Whynot Jansfeld, known for work with the Wallflowers and Butch Walker. An actress as well as a musician, Jessie Kilguss made the transition to music after working with her hero, Marianne Faithfull in The Black Rider. She's starred alongside some huge names including Winona Rider and Daniel Day Lewis. In the four years since since her last record, Jessie Kilguss has lived the real-life montage of hard work mixing with genius to bring us this latest single, Great White Shark.
Mellowness and beauty radiate in the subtle chord changes of the introduction. Jessie Kilguss begins to sing, and it's clear she has a brilliant voice. A country folk vibe vibrates in her tones as the vocals meet the progressive band. Guitars slide and strum as drums slenderly pin the bars together in graceful drifts of flow. The music sways in windy metronomes as the swinging timepiece dances to the feeling that conjures through the words. Mystery and magic fulfil corners of the imagination as the warming and evocative voice of Jessie Kilguss soars along the cresting waves of the lyrical ocean.
