Back with a single and a B-side, plus a list of dates for us to see them on stage, US legends The Dambuilders present Shrine 2026. They made a name for themselves with college radio, their tunes ringing out across the campus and dormitory buildings, in cars, and trendy bars. As the freshers grow into seniors and then fly the nest, they take their tastes with them, and that’s where we are today. Having recently reformed in 2025, they performed their 1989 debut album in full at NYC Berlin and Dromfest. This first new material since the noughties is a reprise of their 1994 hit Shrine. Their B-Side is I Hope We’re Not Too Late, which together with Shrine, was produced by Ray Ketchem at Magic Door then mastered by Greg Calbi, award-winner and premiere engineer, known for work with Lennon, Bowie, Tom Petty, Patti Smith, and many more. It’s out now.

A catchy bass and drum riff begins the tune before the guitars wallow in with a high energy distortion. The vocals hit, that familiar melody reminds us of the original and a mixing production difference leaves us agape. The chords hammer in with their fast strumming on the bridge as the verses roll out the story piece by piece. A lean middle section then lifts the tune into a new dimension before the chorus melody of vocals bring the song back to our ears. A mesmerising harmony plays with bass, guitar, and vocal shows us vibrant rock music still has room for technicality.
