It’s psychedelic and alternative with a twist of the darkness. Jeremy Moore’s Zero Swann are back after a two-year break. We all need those. There’s a new album coming in a couple of weeks, on the 17th we get treated to Benefactor, out on Saccharine Underground. The track explores the concept of violence and destruction, abuse and relentless heartlessness. Things we usually abhor and turn away from are recently much more in the front of our minds and, for some, genuine options. Let’s hope it’s just a phase. How do we show society what it is becoming? With grainy, textured, avant-garde music videos made in Washington D.C. Let’s watch it.

It begins with industrial sounds that scrape and scuff on ancient sounding gears. A pitchy rhythm emerges from the cacophony, cymbals and snare with kick feel submerged under a distortion and squeal. The vocals are insisting, rhythmic, almost monotonous, and burning with poetic fire. The odd and strange elements are what carries the track, anti-commercial yet spookily artistic, you’d know you were in the right goth club if this came on as you walked in. Something completely unique and professionally deranged creates a surge of instrumentation and significance.
