She hails from the blistering North in Norway and now takes her inner fire to the majestic land of Denmark. Multi-instrumentalist, music producer, and all-round creative lighthouse Siv Øyunn Kjenstad reveals a new number as she’s hot off the summer festival scene. Since 2023’s Aspects, the electronic and breakbeat mistress has reveled with the best of them at bass and bounce parties around the continent. Taken from a soon-to-be-released album, co-engineered by the blitzen music producer Brian Batz, New Life offers a smash in a stormcloud with breakbeat mischief manifesting in a courageous and contagious expansion of the scene.

Laid-back synths conjoin with a vocal that can’t be ignored. High notes seem to come naturally; there’s no way I could sing along. A strange breakdown then takes control, leaning in the beats begin to loop over the breaks, subtle yet inventive crafts of digital melody ripple beneath. Øyunn raps and sings in graceful lurches towards her inner light. There’s a unique mystery about the music and although it sounds modern and dance music radio-worthy, it can become much more with a little bit of daydreaming. Enjoy.
