Friendmaker You, Me And Everything Else House Of Strange Vinyl Just out last week, Friendmaker stand clearly above the noise with their latest stunning single. A sound comparable to Doves, Radiohead, and Arcade Fire, Friendmaker take their Irish based set-up to the cosy edges of feelingful and universally listenable sound. The five-piece from Carrickmacross in Monaghan County have worked hard over the recent couple of years to produce some brilliant sounds in their given direction. This single is a silver-spoon-full of the musical concoction that stands between new fans and their next favourite band. Voice and guitar break the quietude in a meaningful verse, deep and wholesome vocal flows superbly across gentle and tuneful steel string strumming. A melodic change meets subtle keyboards that harmonise and sway with the meandering kinesis. A chorus type motion appears after the music pauses for a moment, and the composition rises in a tidal caress that wanders further into the dry landscape. The band gathers momentum as keyboards and strings gain prowess among the chugging guitar and plod of spot-on bass. A surge of power builds in an encapsulated smash of music that grows and then bursts like a bubble, releasing all its energy. Gavin Fox Lay Down Low From Awakened Like many of us, Ireland's Gavin Fox discovered a big talent during the recent lockdown. His skill for putting story-telling to music has resulted in a growing fan-base and several successes already. Unleashing his emotions with a surge of musical ability, Gavin Fox has worked to produce a stunning debut album of which this is the single. We can catch a glimpse of this upcoming release and set our sights for the future when Awakened is rolled out in full. A rumble brings out a melodic chord progression on acoustic guitar. Gavin Fox begins his song and his vocal immediately strikes as someone to remember. A bass elevates the bar as a new vocal melody turns up the feeling. Then, a drum and fiddle enter as the music revs up like a powerful engine. Another burst of energy triggers the turbo system as extra percussion and energy pushes the repeating vocal-lines further and further. Catchy and easy to remember, the rhyming scheme and repeated lines blend in perfectly with an upbeat and modern-Irish sound. You can follow Gavin Fox on Instagram and Twitter Listen to Gavin Fox on YouTube and Spotify Herbie Frame Last Dance Featuring Ingo & Dom Fricot Knowing all about popular rhythms and beats and having been inspired by feel-good and memorable melodies, Herbie Frame has built a sound he can be proud of. Discovering Dom Fricot, a vocal talent to suit his compositions, creating great music has become a genuine option for this up-and-coming producer. A burst of air launches a snapping rhythm into the room. Vocal morphs into a musical instrument as clarity and melody take each other by the hand and let the bass drum begin. A surge of percussion reveals a smash of cymbal and a continuation of the theme along a much punchier backdrop. Uplifting dance motifs fling sensation and intent through the staves as the throbbing bass keeps time along the catchy time-signature. If you're into EDM then this will surely grab your attention. If you're not into EDM then this may just change your mind. You can follow Herbie Frame on Facebook and Instagram Jon Moses Go The Distance Forever I was chatting to Jon Moses on Twitter the other day and realised he wasn't on Sound Read Six. Thankfully he brought my attention to his album, Forever. A stunning array of singer-orientated tracks, Jon Moses brings his talent to every inch of the music. People will remember Jon from his appearance on Andrew Lloyd Webber's Superstar TV show in which he reached the final. Having performed the leading role of Jesus Christ Superstar, performed his solo material on tour, and headlined at shows around the world, he's a real player on the field. A massive following later, an album on Spotify, and a great musical future, it's a pleasure to let you in on one of our favourites, Go The Distance. Pianos and brass open the score as a Meatloaf style guitar surges in the foreground. An operatic opening lyric talks of heroes and legendary welcomes. Dreaming of appreciation for the right reasons, the music goes on to describe how hard work and strength can get you there. A subtle river of strings and a lift of piano launches the song into the next level. Drums and guitar join the show to create more buoyancy for Jon's powerful and memorable voice. The music draws us in closer and with personal character, we are led along the path to success and freedom. You can find Jon Moses on YouTube and TikTok Visit the Jon Moses website
Hook
I Want To See You Tonight Rock Based in Dublin, guitar band Hook present their latest single. An optimistic love song, I Want To See You Tonight brings an exciting vibe to their already white-knuckle delivery style. As their name suggests, Hook write music based on catchy and memorable motifs and melodies that resonate through their three-piece compositions. Inspired by bands such as Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and early Elvis Costello, the raw and raucous attitude of the band makes everything they do stand up on end. The music cracks open like a nut with a snap of snare and bass drum that lets a lush pouring of guitar and bass chord progression flow from the opening. A punky and folk-inspired vocal begins hollering in long-reaching scales across the rock riffage that continues to hammer down. Bouncy chords vibrate and strum across neatly packaged beats that pound in a static perucussive staple, pinning everything together. Breaks in the verse and chorus structure see melodious interludes elevate the energy in a continuous up draught of sound. Find social links and streaming playlists on Linktree
Nicolaas Walle & Friends
This Is Me Telling You Featuring Ciara Adamson Irish-Dutch music-maker Nicolaas Walle is about to release a breakthrough album that highlights not only his own songwriting ability but the amazing talents of several colleagues as well. A single from the record, This Is Me Telling You sees the art-rock producer use synthesisers and drum-machines alongside traditional guitar-playing and rock-band effects. Having studied Creative Music Production at Dublin's Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, it's clear that Walle & Friends have more than enough muscle to punch through the ceiling. The music begins with a scattering of rhythmic harmonic notes that become the basis for a rhythmic undertone to lead guitar that swells in breezy licks. Bass and snare bounce the beat in with an energetic flow as Ciara Adamson begins the song. Her expressive and attractive voice dances in blues form over the sliding surface. This short and memorable number launches us into space and leaves us floating in low gravity as everything else seems so far away.
