Experimentally Enjoyable Rhythm Structures And Depth From Bas Grossfeldt With We Are Now
We Are Now
With a return to the fold in the manner of a debut LP, Søren Siebel AKA Bas Grossfeldt presents We Are Now. An eleven-track album that swiftly experiences a run of changing mental-states, the world of the electronic music producer becomes vivid and clear on this personally relevant album. Since the fantastic coverage and subsequent streams of his previous single Lost in Sensation on Juan Atkins’ Metroplex Records, this full-length LP brings everything and more that we want from Bas Grossfeldt. The title track of the record, We Are Now offers a spoonful of splendour for us to enjoy with the rest of the album on hand if you want it.
The title track starts with a heartbeat style bass drum that pounds against resonant empty spaces. Heavy breathing and static infused beats separate the percussion as new scattered beats click and tap in obscure corridors. Metallic clanks and oddly organic feels dance in abstraction as the layering of rhythm lean ever upward. Melodic bass begins to burst with rhythmic tune as new and uplifting tempos add a sense of flavour to the deeply dark undercarriage. Chatty drums and talkative bars project outward before atmospheric synthesiser takes the direction to a new bearing. Introspective and expertly nourished with a varied palette of sound.
