Seattle-based jazz rockers Guest Directors have been non-stop over the past few months. Since their critically acclaimed Oh, To Be Weightless In The Sky, the band are back with yet more superb form and a brand new record. Interference Patterns sees the shoe-gaze shenanigans rise once more in ambient and abstract musings of music. This new record contains nine awesome tracks which can be yours on limited edition vinyl if you so choose. There are only 100 ever and numbers are dropping fast. Unlimited streaming and a CD version also exists, we can expect the statistics to climb consistently for as long as the band would like and then some more.
 
A rhythmic progression of chords breaks the song open as the sense of rock rises with an addition of drums and new guitars. Bass thunders behind the rivers of guitar melody that strum and pick through splashy sections of sound. The lyrics work in like butter, colouring the mix with a golden glow that shimmers and reflects on the choppy undercurrent. Waves of pressure reveal bursts of energy that climb up and over the framework of song that hops from one foot to another in a motivated and expressive clamber.

Finding their way back to the full band sound after a run of isolation-induced experiments, Seattle's jazz and dreamcore combination Guest Directors release Oh, To Be Weightless In The Sky. Limited to only 100 hand-numbered CDs, the rest of us can enjoy unlimited downloads. This five-track EP includes the critically acclaimed Another Round (An Echo), marking the opening of the entire sound journey. Since 2016's These Beautiful Things, the group have made progress in several directions with thematic and philosophical influences mirrored in their music. On the track Another Round, the full band rework the original home recorded version that featured on the Connected Heavens EP from 2021. Produced by Jack Endino, the legend behind works by Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Mudhoney, (links to eBay) this new release enjoys full support from the quality and experience that comes with perfecting the loud rock band sound.


The music begins with a tonally rich guitar riff that swelters away to its own private groove. As we're drawn in to the magic implied by the progressive melody the band rise up to greet the rhythm with clarity and composure. Drums volley and splash in vibrant displays of accented percussion as guitars roar and duel with harmonising dance manoeuvres. Vocals burst like flowers at dawn with time-lapse photography in cinematic lines of uplifting lyrics. The transparency in the band lets us hear the delicate musicianship that twinkles behind acute distortion and the energetic delivery. A serious fire burns in the heart of this punchy and enlightening track by Guest Directors.
