From the new album that’s due out later this month, the San-Fransico based post-punk outfit Octavian Winters present their psychologically intriguing new video. Like its name, the video for Surreal offers a dynamic and mind-bending visage to accompany what makes the third single from the album, The Line Or Curve. Recorded at Room 5 Recording and OW Studio by Mark Pistel, from Meat Beat Manifesto and Consolidated credit, the band co-produced their whole album alongside William Faith, who’s responsible for masterpieces by acts such as The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith And The Muse, Christian Death, and March Violets. Mastered by William Faith at Chicago’s 13 Studio, the music has everything it needs and more with the true-to-life talent within the band.
A smooth rhythm outlines the intro as drums roll across the surface. A deep and resonant bass guitar begins to dig the groove deeper as the slow and graceful melodic phrase repeats along the percussive impetus. Ghostly sounds creep into the surrounding atmosphere as guitars invent sonic fantasies with string and effect. The vocal begins, drifting and meandering lines enchant with a beautiful sound. Harmonies reach out as the chorus joins the flow, the voice layers upon itself as the music shimmers in a wholesome vibe of tonal clarity. Sensations of gloom and phantasm crackle in the distinct conjunction of sounds as the evocative and bewitching song carries its energy with grace and poise.
