Featuring Kat Harrison
Working together for a series of ten monthly music releases, we’re half-way through the mission and track six is out now. As if by magic, the number resonates with this journal and it’s a pleasure to feature this Bristolian act. Wuzy Bambussy is the long-term project of the multi-talented Nikolai Jones and he’s recently been working closely with the elegant and stylish Kat Harrison to bring some truly fantastic new material. Scheduled to release regular music until the end of the year and with a series of a dozen tracks already ringing out across the land, it’s an inventive and refreshing way of manifesting sound through an ever-changing chemistry of environment. A warming mix of electronic and jazz brings this well-suited duo to abstract life.
The song opens with a groove of piano that saunters in a choppy and inventive melody. Rhythmic notes curl around the key in a gambol over smooth and vibrant lines. Kat Harrison begins, her evocative and synonymous voice enchants from the first line. A homely sense of belonging fills the atmosphere as we listen to the progression of the vocal. Drums begin to lend a punchy layer to the flow as the song moves outwards into larger fields. Memorable lines frolic across the buoyant song in neat portions of timing and structure. Melody resonates with rhythm as a catchy and clear demonstration of talent simmers on jazzy golden pavements.
