Reveal Records Give John Douglas Of Trashcan Sinatras A Stage For His Sound With The Eponymous Solo Record
The gifted songwriter from Trashcan Sinatras, John Douglas, takes his talent to debut solo material with a brand-new album. Out on Reveal Records, the self-titled record launches the voice and guitar skills of John Douglas into the airwaves. The intimate and seriously snug renditions of his material were recorded solo and live in Glasgow’s Kyoti Studio. Mixed and mastered by Mark Freegard, from Lush, New Model Army, The Breeders, Marillion, and Del Amitri production credit, the thirty-year veteran of the Scottish folk-rock scene illuminates his project with a release long waited for by his fans. To compliment the record, John Douglas has released this live version of Weightlifting from inside St. Luke’s Glasgow church.
A gentle steel acoustic outlines the chords in unison and harmony as notes drift through their patterns. A close-up and intimate vocal joins the flow, John Douglas leans in and caresses the microphone with his calming voice. The notes drift like waving clouds from their resting places as new lines cover the old with graceful verses. The chorus sinks deeper, as the guitar begins to shudder with the emotional weight of the music John Douglas strides across as light steps brush against the tall grasses and undergrowth of guitar. Weightlifting takes us to the core of what song writing is all about, great words, melodic chords, and a voice that feels every bar.
