From Memory Box LP
Happy Robots Records
Opus Three is the cracking new single from London's electro-magus Rodney Cromwell. Crafting a unique name for himself, like his historical namesake, Cromwell is shifting the lines of power in the realms of fun and enjoyable electronic music. Co-produced by the amazing Richard Bennet from Acme Hall Studios in New York then mastered to premium by none other than Pete Maher, who's worked alongside U2, The Pixies, Paul Weller, and Goldfrapp, Memory Box stands to be one of the year's most memorable new editions.
A scattered melody begins with a glitchy fill serving to prick up the ears. Then a deep and wholesome harmony bass begins to slam down with disco vibes and extra pump. Melodic bars on synthesiser and vocal join the rhythm in lines that offer short and snappy emotive additions to the flowing groove. Rubbery one-two steps keep the energy up as a moody edge in the delivery carries a grunge sensibility to the otherwise upbeat party. Breaks of synthesiser playfully jingle along the lines where vocal takes a back-seat, vocoder harmonies splatter like paint-balls against the thick and decorative techno wall.
Definitely list this album on your favourites and check out the rest of the music.
