The Last Siren
Stranded Here Alone Thanks For Nothing The Last Siren are back with a brand-new EP on their usual London-based Criminal Records Label. The only track without swearing is Stranded Here Alone and continues the angst and attitude from Jayke’s previous record. Thanks For Nothing EP is a dose of aggro towards everyone who made things difficult, made promises they didn’t keep, and who took without respecting the hand. I think we can all identify with that. The Smokin’ Prophets’ bassist with eons of touring and studio experience behind him, the frontman of The Last Siren reveals a dead-heavy and frantic soul behind his casually crisp and courageous songwriting. An impressive video for the 2022 track Stranded Here Alone makes prime position on this latest brutal The Last Siren record. A distorted vocal and guitar combine with a sludge of emotion and feeling. The rhythm hits hard as the bass and guitar enter a joint venture into pulsations of gravity. Jayke begins to sing, his grimy and distorted voice screams over the bars of metal in apt and ferocious volleys of causal anger. Roaring guitars with palm-muted chord progressions frame the boiling over range as the vocals relentlessly push the boundaries of our ears. With a swing of class, the guitar leans into a bluesy solo that resonates across a snappy middle-eight before the drums begin to pound with extra intention to punch the music all the way in. The music opens with a roar of distortion, it growls into a guitar-riff that chugs with awesome shredding as the drums hit the target. Harmonious layers of riff spiral through the intro section and lead straight into The Last Siren Jayke Turl's screaming vocals. Emotionally charged and focussed into shrapnel, the drilling power of the track carries forward through the walls of cool.
