Currently living in New Orleans, the well-travelled Fred Abong is settling down for the time being with a cosy and intelligent musical style. Influenced by people like Elliot Smith, Leonard Cohen, and Bob Dylan, the singer-songwriter energy forms a unique sonic sphere around the artist. His seventh album is coming to the shelves and streaming sites, Fear Pageant will be released later in the summertime. This single makes a statement of purpose and a long-lasting footprint in the cement that undoubtedly will become another foundation. Since the days of Rhode Island and playing the drums in the 80s, it’s been a long and exciting journey for Fred Abong, and it’s certain that he’s got his sights on even more in the future.
A warm and sunny acoustic guitar begins with a synthesiser gently rolling underneath. Minor chords lend a sensual and compassionate edge to the head-bobbing rhythm. A slow walk through lyricism and story, Fred Abong drifts us through cloudy visions and sombre emotions. As the verses continue, we rise a gear with the addition of drums The graceful pace is made to flow in walking-horse style rhythmic drops that match the introspective energy.
