From Now That I Have Your Attention
A veteran in the industry, Phil Thornalley has been a huge figure for several artists over the past 30 years or so. Not only does he produce his own classic material, Phil Thornalley has been writing music and playing in the band for some of the world's most successful artists. Famous for co-writing Torn which was covered by Natalie Imbruglia and for playing the bass on The Cure's famous song Love Cats, a long list of similar accolades follow him like kite tails aiding in his dynamic flight forward. With his picture already hanging in the National Portrait Gallery and bands such as Bryan Adams and The Cure hiring him for his skills, the latest album breaks from the line to show yet more angles of brilliance this musician can bring about.
Strings and synths beam out as radiant notes fling across the stereo. A crack of rhythm enters with piano strokes as quick-paced lyrics stroll in on smiling phonics. Fun and lively chord progressions frame the verses as a mix of instruments push the energy outward. A sense of the Polyphonic Spree dances in the room as the multi-tonal mixing of sounds shine vibrancy and feeling with the passing bars. Progressive sections lean back and give the band a rest as one line of thought gets carried away for a brief moment, then chorus lines and blues guitar fill the self-imposed voids with memorable vibes.
