Weekend Recovery Chemtrails Criminal Records As Northern alt-rock goes, the female-fronted Weekend Recovery are in a league of their own. Working with Criminal Records the band are preparing to release Esoteric, their fantastic new album due early next year. With pressing number 3, the band are truly growing into bigger boots with the continual performances and sessions enjoyed with their perpetually growing fan base. This newest single is named after the phenomenon of jet fuel exhaust mixing with condensation and lingering in the atmosphere as criss-cross strokes of mist. Whether it's a secret experiment to cool the planet or just a side-effect of air travel, the song is bound to offer all that we expect from this lively and talented trio of musicians. The music begins with a fruity bass-line that thumps with sunken groove. The band then launch into action with a ruckus of punky guitar and upbeat ska-style vocals. Lori powers through with front-facing female orientated lyrics about the conspiracy of reading what women want just by their private behaviour. Men, who are taught that confidence and pressure-selling are the way forward, clearly make the fire burn and it's not exactly toasty. It's good to know where you stand, and with this track you'll be jumping and waving your arms if given half the chance. It's like a dynamic cross-over between INXS and The Ting-Tings which gives us a catchy kick that keeps us wanting more from this group. Weekend Recovery It's Obvious No Guts All The Glory Smashing it as usual with a continual run of successful releases has put Weekend Recovery on the radio several times in a row with fans barricading the door with their sheer numbers. Signed to London's Criminal Records, this Yorkshire-based rock trio are no strangers to the tour bus and kit bags that help them bring their loud and catchy songs to people all over the land. Now the band have reached the UK top 10 for physical singles which puts them directly on the podium where they belong. We're all super-pleased as it's been a roller-coaster adventure for this hard-working three piece. A cymbal crashes as a guitar with fuzzy bass thrusts through. Lori begins to sing with her classy attitude we have grown to admire. Liquid riffs flow and slosh with a filthy distortion that rides in a surging flow between the pulsations of chords. The music rises in melody as the chorus expands the range of vocal pattern, a dreamy nostalgia for grunge and nu-punk from the 90s pancakes the modernity and freshness that comprises the tasty filling. Follow Weekend Recovery on Facebook and Twitter Weekend Recovery No Guts All The Glory Criminal Records Astronomical growth and a schedule of super-heroes, Weekend Recovery are smashing it all over the place. Since their monumental signing to Criminal Records, home of The Kut, The Last Siren, and a load more, their next album is already in the works. The latest single is released at the same time as a bunch of live dates where fans have been lapping up the energy produced by this UK based rock band. A rocky road of let-down and self-actualisation has meant that Weekend Recovery have quickly become a sustainable and passionate force in the scene. The music bangs open the door and throws the whole band into the room with flood-lights and smoke machines. Huge power chord riffs smash the beat bumped up by punky drums. Duets of male and female vocals chant and harmonise in a passionate crashing of feeling and rage. A persistent and fiery rhythm continues to bash the head-banging style grunge prowess that lifts the room. Arena style build-ups force the blues from the stone as yet more layers of indulgent chaos are stapled to the forehead. You can follow Weekend Recovery on Facebook and Twitter |
