But Now I’m Ha-Ha-Happy
Forced to flee his hometown of Donetsk, which happens to be twinned with Sheffield where Sound Read Six is produced, Bejenec has not let this stop him making more awesome electronic music. Translating as Refugee, Bejenec has begun a splendid record label called & The Refugees. The new EP is the first vinyl offering on this impress and has just been released. Slavic Breus EP sees four original mixes make their way to listeners the world over. Taken from this record, But Now I’m Ha-Ha-Happy is like a kick of sand in the face of those who wish to destroy this Ukrainian person’s joy.
It begins on a huge throbbing bass rhythm that bursts into the room. A sleek mix of snare and hats add velocity to the flow as the percussion pushes forward. New additions of drum bring flowing motifs to the direction, up-beat and frantic beats strike the pulse with effervescent shimmers of potential. Deep bass continues to plough through the matrix in sturdy belts of forward motion. Synthesisers appear, they bounce and stretch in rubbery tunes of manic tone. Huge scales are leapt across by the rhythmic notes as they direct the continuation of material. Extra harmonies sneak in, airy and intense, the smash of drums leans in and keeps the fluid moving.
